Under the passionate California sun, the jubilant spirit of the 4th of July brightens this closely-knit Avalon community. A truly diverse population of natives, curious travelers, and mom-and-pop shoppe keepers bask under the resplendent sunbeams and clear blue skies.
Exploiting the versatility of oils to represent light pastels, Min loosely renders Catalina Island’s Avalon Bay and Art Deco dance hall building of the Catalina Island Casino. Surrounded by sea on three sides, the round Art Deco structure stands the equivalent of 12 stories tall against the Catalina Island mountains.
The vermillion sun sets over the famous Catalina Casino. This painting displays a brilliant chiaroscuro balance of light and dark hues ranging from dark garnet to the softest of cadmium yellow.
The famous Green Pier is abloom with celebration. The vitality can be seen and felt in the air. The light washes of the clouds convey a sense of infinity.
